The ETA 2836 not only has a date function but also features a weekday indicator which 2824 doesn’t have. The most recent version of the 2836 houses a stop second device, and the movement can be upgraded to a GMT caliber with a second-time zone.
ETA makes the ETA 2893-2, which is a GMT movement from the Swiss factory. The genuine Rolex GMT hand does fit it. Both are considered on par with genuine Rolex movements. The thing that's nice about the Rolex 6542 and the 1675 GMTs is that the ETA is .

It is an A2836 so you can replace it with any rep or gen 2836. You will just transfer the daywheel and datewheel over from the rep to the new movement. You would need to do that anyway because the replacement movement will not come with Rolex fonts, regardless of position. It's an easy swap, just a little circlip holding the daywheel in place. I see the big difference is the 2836 is 28,600 BPH where the 2846 is a slower 21,600 BPH. I saw at www.eta.ch that they are phasing out the 2846. Is the 2846 a good movement?

My Aquadive BS-100 diver uses a "top grade" ETA 2836-2 movement tuned in-house to COSC accuracy and isochronism standards. It is my understanding that the 2836-2 movement is essentially the same as the 2824-2 except for: 1) the additional complication for Day in addition to Date; and 2) the date changes instantly at midnight instead of .
